Rug Runners
Some areas of the house are subject to heavy traffic and this can really have an effect on your chosen floor covering, whether that is, carpet or wood flooring. Heavy usage areas become subject to dirt and grime giving floors a very different appearance to less used areas. An easy way to protect your floor is to use a rug but in a particular area of heavy usage, the hallway or entrance, a runner style rug is the ideal option.
Rug Runners are specifically made for protecting hallways or long narrower areas of heavy use areas around your home. They are available in a variety of colours and designs including Peshawar, Nobel Art, Royal Palace, Afghan, Galleria and Murat styles. They not only protect your floor area they are also very easy to care for and keep clean (see earlier post).
Hall rug runners look great whether you live in a contemporary home or a more traditional home setting. Also bear in mind that runners for stairs are a convenient way to protect that particular area and also act as soundproofing for wooden stairs if heavy usage is anticipated.
Did not know you could get rug runners for stairs. The idea of not covering all the stair with a runner is a great idea – this way you can still see the wood but know you are protecting the heavy use area.
I have done exactly this – with a hall runner and complementing stair runner. The entrance looks amazing and the wood floor still looks great and requires little cleaning and maintenance. Runners are a great idea.
