Ziegler and Company way back in 1883 captured a style and design of rug that continues to fit into any home today whether traditional or contemporary. Backed by a myriad of historical tradition Ziegler rugs; were originally designed by principal master weavers; use only natural, delicate and subtle colours from vegetable dyes; are distinctive, individual and timeless and creatively capture the past, yet compliment modern living. Making rugs is no piece of cake. The effort that goes into making a rug is a complicated combination of preparing the materials and knotting/weaving them together.
An ancient activity (the first known rug dates from over 2000 years ago!), weaving has become an art form. Some rugs last for hundreds of years due to the craftsmanship that goes into making them. There are a large variety of different knots originating from different areas of the world.
